Chole Mjini on tiny Chole Island off the eastern coast of Mafia has a wonderfully rustic but comfortable ambience and provides an ideal getaway location. Accommodation consists of six imaginatively designed tree houses, each set on its own with views over the bay, the mangroves or the Chole ruins, and each accommodating up to three people. The treehouses have a range of amenities including a dry composting toilet and a hot and cold water shower, set in a private garden at the base of the hosting tree. Should the idea of tree-top living not appeal, there is also one luxurious suite on the ground equipped with an en-suite bathroom with a sunken Persian bath, flush toilet and large private garden.
There is no electricity on Chole Island so there is no air-conditioning or satellite television, but facilities to recharge your phone and camera batteries and of course to keep the drinks ice-cold are available. Dining focuses on simple, tasty seafood-based meals, and the upstairs bar has a wonderful view over the baya nd serves a range of hot and cold drinks throughout the day.
